James Robinson Johnston Graduate Entrance Scholarship for African Canadians
- This is a Master’s scholarship for full-time study, and is valued at 15,000 US dollar for one twelve-month academic year. This renewable award, is subject to an annual review (scholarship-class standing required). The maximum duration this scholarship award can be held is 24 months of full-time study.
- The full-time Doctoral scholarship is valued at 19,000 US dollars for a twelve-month academic year. The Award is renewable, and is subject to an annual progress review (scholarship-class standing required). This award can be held for a maximum of 36 months of full-time study.
- The fees for this program are not waived and must be paid out of the award.
- A new award is provided each year.
- Candidates that concurrently hold other scholarships of any kind, including internal and external to Dalhousie University scholarships, will still receive the James Robinson Johnston Graduate Entrance Scholarship for African Canadians as a “top-up award” in addition to their other scholarship, the total not exceeding 20,000 US dollars per academic year for Master’s programs or 30,000 US dollars for Doctoral programs.
Vitamin Scholarship
- This Award has a value of 19,000 US dollars for Masters programs and 21,000 US dollar for Doctoral programs for a duration of 12-month academic year (one-two awards per year)
Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship
- This renewable scholarship has a value of 40,000 US dollars for one 12-month academic year of full-time study. The renewal is subject to an annual progress review.

(1) Log into the FGS Scholarship Management Platform. If you already possess a Dalhousie NetID, kindly click on “Use Dalhousie NetID” to gain access. Otherwise, kindly create an account by entering an email address and creating a password.
(2) Either create a new scholarship application or edit an existing application by clicking on the “My applications” list on your home page. Note: please avoid submitting more than one Harmonized Scholarship applications, because only one application per competition will be accepted from each applicant.
(3) For Master’s applicants who have applied for the Tri-Agency CGS-M competition, they also have the opportunity to opt-in to use their CGS-M application nested within the Harmonized Scholarship Process. If wish to do so, kindly select “Master’s Level – CGS-M Opt-In” as the submission category and proceed with the application.
(4) Kindly, complete the self-identification questionnaire on the Online Scholarship Platform. Please note that, information provided in this questionnaire is not visible to reviewers and will remain strictly confidential.
(5) To proceed with the application, click “Next” at the end of each page to navigate through the application. By clicking “Save” you will be able to close the application and return to it later without losing data.
(6) Official transcripts must be provided and uploaded by the applicant directly in the scholarship portal as instructed. Multiple transcripts must be combined into a single PDF and uploaded.
(7) Finally, agree to terms and conditions and click “Save and Finalize” to complete and submit your application.
